New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party registered a fabulous victory in the Delhi civic polls on Wednesday, giving a humiliating defeat to Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The AAP, which emerged as a major political force in Delhi's politics in 2014, managed to win only 48 out of 270 seats up for grabs, making it clear that the party's popularity has dipped over the years.
According to the Delhi State Election Commission, the BJP swept the municipal polls winning 181 seats, while the Congress was restricted to just 30.
Unable to concede defeat, the AAP leaders continued to blame EVM tampering for their party's electoral debacle.

The BJP won 64 of 103 wards in North Delhi Municipal Corporation, 70 of 104 in South Delhi Municipal Corporation and 47 of 63 in East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Barring Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain, four of the AAP ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, conceded ground in their own constituencies to the BJP.
