New Delhi: Angoori Devi, the frail old mother of the key accused in the Hauz Khas rape case, is so ashamed of her son's act that she had decided not to take him back in the family.

Angoord Devi's 20-year-old son 'Raja' was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the rape of a northeastern woman inside the Deer Park in the early hours of Sunday.

A report in the Hindustan Times said on Thursday that the old lady is heart-broken and says that she will ensure that her son doesn’t influence others.

Unable to believe that her son had raped a woman, Angoori Devi regretted that despite all efforts she could not keep Raja away from petty crimes and frequent quarrels.

Devi had kicked Raja out of her house when he showed no signs of improvement and warned him not to return till he had mended his ways.

The frail woman lives with her husband and four younger children in her humble house in Dhobi Mohalla of South Delhi’s Arjun Nagar.

Concerned about her other children, Devi - who works as a maid - wants them to continue their schooling to avoid falling in bad company.

“I don’t know when will Raja be released from jail. But if I am alive when he comes out, I will ensure he does not influence my younger children,” Devi was quoted as saying.

The old lady, however, acknowledged that her son who had tattooed his nickname ‘Jundal’ on his arm, was into drugs and committed small time thefts.

However, locals claim that Raja was a constant troublemaker and carried a knife with him always.

Interestingly, he was never arrested till he raped the 24-year-old Northeastern woman.
