NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police arrested a 22-year-old Non-resident Indian (NRI) for allegedly molesting a 52-year-old US national outside a five-star hotel in Lutyens' Delhi.

The accused has been identified as Anmol Singh Kharbanda and is working as a software engineer for Google. He has been sent to judicial custody.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) BK Singh, the woman had checked into the hotel on January 6 where she befriended the accused.

On January 8, at around 10 pm, the two had drinks at Taj Palace Hotel's bar. The victim, in her complaint, alleged that he offered her laced drinks and tried to grope her.

"Kharbanda took her to his room for a smoke when he allegedly groped and tried to touch her inappropriately," Additional Commissioner of Police BK Singh said. Kharbanda, who works for Google on a contract basis, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, Singh said.

After the incident, the woman checked out of the hotel and shifted to one in Gurgaon. On the next day, the woman left for Jaipur after a fight with him. She reported the incident and complained to the police on Thursday after returning to Delhi. Following the complaint by the victim, Kharbanda was arrested from the hotel after being interrogated. Both Kharbanda and the victim were staying in Taj Palace hotel for the last few days, the police said.
