BJP meets CEC, seeks de-recognition of AAP

The BJP on Wednesday urged the Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti to de-recognise Aam Aadmi Party.

New Delhi: The BJP on Wednesday urged the Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti to de-recognise Aam Aadmi Party for violating model code of conduct during the by-poll to Delhi's Bawana constituency by pasting posters spreading disharmony in the constituency.

The delegation, led by its Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari, also said that the matter of the poster calling for communal polarisation by Muslims during voting is very grave and defeats the spirit of secularism as prescribed by the Constitution.

The delegation requested the poll panel to ask police officials to take speedy action to arrest Delhi Minister Imran Hussain and other accused including the AAP's National Convener and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal whose picture was there in the posters.
