Independence Day 2022: Pointers to prepare a short and crisp speech for August 15

Independence Day is a national festival for Indians and we commemorate it with a lot of passion, pride and enthusiasm. We honour the fighters who sacrificed their lives to strive for independence from the more than 200 years of British rule. As this memorable day is approaching, students are often asked to prepare a speech and enlighten others with insightful stories of our great freedom fighters. • On August 15, 1947, India formally ended British rule.
• India has completed 75 years of Independence, which gave the Indian Constituent Legislative Authority.  
• The country is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which was launched by the Ministry of Culture in March. 
• People born after Independence in a liberated India must appreciate the cost of our freedom warrior’s sacrifice who relentlessly struggled to liberate our motherland from colonial rule.
• Mahatma Gandhi sought freedom from the injustice that long imprisoned our society. A non-violent liberation martyr like him has set an example for us to carry forward in our daily lives.

• We must never forget the sacrifices made by the millions of freedom fighters, notably Bhagat Singh, Chandra Sekhar Azad, and others, who battled to free India from British colonisation.
• The Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950. The principal architect of the Indian Constitution was Bhimrao Ambedkar.
• Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore composed Jana Gana Mana, our national anthem.
• The Sanskrit phrase "Satyameva Jayate," which translates to "Truth Alone Triumphs," is our country's slogan.
