Akshaya Tritiya, the day that witnesses a number of new initiatives and marriages owing to its auspiciousness falls on April 28th this year. It marks the third day in the month of Vaishaka in the Hindu calendar which often coincides with April –May according to the Gregorian calendar.
On this day, people set up new business ventures, make investments with gold and other precious metals or a new property, buy new utensils or organise weddings because the entire day (Tithi) is considered extremely auspicious. One doesn’t need a specific Muhurta on this day to initiate a new beginning.
Shri Vishnu and his consort – Maa Lakshmi are worshipped on this. Lord Kubera, the treasurer of wealth is also worshipped.
