South Africa vs Australia, 4th ODI – As it happened...

Port Elizabeth: Live cricket score and live updates from fourth ODI between South Africa and Australia being played at St George's Park.

South Africa innings

Australia were bowled out for 167 in the first innings. Abbott with Shamsi destroyed the visitors and in the second innings Plessis played the perfect anchor role to make sure that Proteas don't lose the match. Although, Tremain took two early wickets to jolt South Africa on the back foot but not for long. Rossouw also played a good knock of 33 runs to help the hosts in securing 4-0 lead over Aussies.

Over 35.3 | Score 168/4 (Rossouw 29*, Behardien 11*)

Faf tried to score some quick runs to finish the match early, but in the process lost his wicket to Marsh. Tired to pull the ball, doesn't connect it very well and found deep mid-wicket to perfection inside the boundary ropes. Behardien came in at number 6 to support Rossouw.

Proteas have won the game by 6 wickets with 14.3 overs to spare.

WICKET: Faf du Plessis c Head b Marsh 69 (87b)

Over 25 | Score 113/3 (Plessis 48*, Rossouw 11*)

South Africa are in the driving seat as Faf is playing a captain's knock for the hosts. He is just 2 runs away from his 23rd ODI fifty.

Over 20 | Score 86/3 (Plessis 34*, Rossouw 1*)

Zampa has made amends of the drop catch by taking the wicket of Duminy in the second over of his spell. The left-hander gifted his wicket away, Marsh takes an easy catch at mid-off. Australia are chipping away with wickets but not as regularly as they would have liked.

WICKET: JP Duminy c Marsh b Zampa 25 (45b)

Over 15 | Score 52/2 (Plessis 17*, Duminy 10*)

In 14th over, Zampa dropped and absolute sitter of South African skipper Faf. This will definitely prove to be costly drop for visitors, as they don't have enough runs to defend.

Over 10 | Score 35/2 (Plessis 8*, Duminy 3*)

Tremain got Kock out in the 6th over just before the lunch break.

WICKET: Quinton de Kock c Zampa b Tremain 18 (14b)

Over 5 | Score 24/1 (Kock 13*, Plessis 5*)

The first breakthrough for Australia is provided by Tremain, he trapped Amla in front of the stumps in the 2nd over of the innings. A good start from the visitors point of view, they need few more wickets to create some sort of pressure on the Proteas.

WICKET: Hashim Amla lbw b Tremain 4 (8b)

Australia Innings

South Africa rested their main fast bowlers as well as spinner, but still Australia managed to play only 36.4 overs. They were bundled out for 167. Abbott being the chief destroyer with Shamsi took 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

Over 36.4 | Score 167 (Tremain 23*)

Wade scored his half-century with a six over square leg, but Phangiso dismissed him in the first ball of the 36th over. As Australia had a review left, so Wade wanted to use it but it went in vein as the ball was hitting leg-stump. Boland was adjuged LBW in the 4th ball of the same over to end the misery of Australian batting line up.

WICKET: Matthew Wade lbw b Phangiso 52 (58b)

WICKET: Scott Boland lbw b Phangiso 0 (3b)

Over 35 | Score 154/8 (Wade 45*, Tremain 17*)

Some respite for Australians as Wade is scoring some quick runs and Tremain is sticking on the other end to support him. South Africa would want to finish it as qucikly as possible.

Over 30| Score 123/8 (Wade 31*, Tremain 3*)

Abbott provided another breakthorugh for Proteas, as soon as Marsh scored his fifty, he had been dismissed by the most successful bowler for the hosts. Kyle line and length are spot on today from the very first ball of the match. Australia are on course of getting all-out, well within the 50 overs.

WICKET: Mitchell Marsh c †de Kock b Abbott 50 (72b)

WICKET: John Hastings lbw b Shamsi 4 (3b)

WICKET: Adam Zampa b Abbott 5 (4b)

Over 25 | Score 99/5 (Marsh 46*, Wade 22*)

Some shots being played by the batsman, Marsh hit a six against Duminy in his very first over of the match. He is closing in on a vital fifty for the visitors. The right-hander needs to stay, if Australia want to post a big total in the first innings.

Over 20 | Score 68/5 (Marsh 26*, Wade 14*)

Both the batsman have steadied the innings so far, Marsh in particular is playing nicely. Initally he took time to settle in, once he has got his eyes set, he is stroking the ball nicely. Wade is supporting him very well at the other end.

Over 15 | Score 49/5 (Marsh 18*, Wade 0*)

More trouble for the visitors as Smith and Head both are dismissed in the same over by Shamsi. Faf & Co though reviewed the LBW decision against Ausssie skipper and ruled it in their favour. Travis was also trapeed in front by the spinner. Wicket-keeper batsman Wade came out at number 7 for Australia. This is the last recognised batting pair left.

WICKET: Steve Smith lbw b Shamsi 21 (36b)

WICKET: Travis Head lbw b Shamsi 0 (2b)

Over 10 | Score 30/3 (Smith 16*, Marsh 5*)

A cautious apporach by both the batsman. Skipper added some runs after the intial cease by Aussies, while Marsh is taking his time to settle in.

Over 5 | Score 17/3 (Smith 4*, Marsh 4*)

Australia got off to a disastrous start as Kyle Abbott removed Aaron Finch and David Warner in consecutive overs. To make matters worse, Dwaine Pretorius dismissed George Bailey reducing Australia to 17/3. Smith will once again have to lead from the front and play a captain's knock here.

WICKET: Aaron Finch b Abbott 2 (3b)

WICKET: David Warner b Abbott 6 (5b)

WICKET: George Bailey lbw b Pretorius 1 (6b)

Plenty of changes for South Africa:

Here is Australia's playing XI:

David Miller, South Africa's hero from previous game has been ruled out of the match due to a groin injury.

Toss: Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bat first

Australia did everything right in the third ODI after putting 372 runs on board. The hosts were reeling at 6/265 at one stage, from where David Miller launched an incredible counter-attack and sealed victory from the jaws of defeat.

Australia will be looking to play for pride in the remaining two matches after having lost the series 3-0 already.
