It seems that keeping in mind the ICC World T20, scheduled to take place in India next year, selectors want to give veteran Harbhajan Singh a chance to utilise his experience. Bhajji knows very well that if he cannot manage to seize this moment, it could turn out to be his last chance to represent India. With vast experience and lot of variety up his sleeves, the ageing cricketer can still turn things in his favour. It will be pivotal for him to strike under pressure.

In the absence of a proven all-rounder, the best option available for Team India has always been Stuart Binny. However, barring few occasions, the Karnataka all-rounder has been sporadic thus far. Scarcity of genuine all-rounders in the country also worked in his favour. But in the lengthy series against the Proteas, pressure would be on Binny. This time it would be survival of the fittest.

The tearaway bowler has been picked up for the three-match T20 series. Yadav has everything a speedster wishes to have – a perfect built, rhythm, speed, aggression and right attitude. However, he needs to work on his line and length, which has been quite erratic of late. With the kind of speed Yadav possesses, he can be an asset for Team India. T20 series would be a good chance for the Maharashtra pacer to get his lost form back and convince the selectors to consider his name for the last two ODIs and the much-anticipated Test series.

Though the diminutive leggie is on the wrong side of his 30's, he has immense experience and skills to trouble the best in the business. Especially on rank-turners, the tweaker can once again pair-up with R Ashwin to give the Proteas a tough time, especially in whites. After having an impressive performance in Lanka, the Haryana bowler has gained the confidence of Test skipper Virat Kohli. As he has been picked up for the first three ODIs, Mishra has a golden opportunity to regain the trust of ODI skipper MS Dhoni as well.
