Shahid Afridi's retirement: This Twitter conversation between Pakistani cricketer, Sanath Jayasuriya is a huge hit

New Delhi: While the fans and players were hooked to the IPL 10 auction, Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket on 20th February. One of the most dynamic all-rounders the game has ever since, Afridi retired from the shortest format of the game, thus drawing curtains to a phenomenal career.

As wishes poured in from all corners for the 36-year-old, former Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya, who himself was a terrific all-rounder, took to Twitter to congratulate him.

"I like to wish @SAfridiOfficial all the best for the future. Thank you for the memories. You helped change the game!" Jayasuriya tweeted.

Afridi was surprised with the tweet from the Lankan legend, to which he humbly replied, "Thanks @sanath07 . I only ended wat u began."

Shahid Afridi had an illustrious career, where he represented Pakistan in 398 ODIs, 98 T20Is and 27 Test matches.

He slogged 11 centuries, 51 half-centuries and scored 11,185 runs for Pakistan across all three formats. Being an all-rounder, the leggie also did his bit with the ball and took 540 wickets over all and 10 five-wicket hauls.
