No India-Pakistan bilateral series in 2017, PCB official Najam Sethi confirms

New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board's head of Executive Committee Najam Sethi rules out any possibility of Indo-Pak bilateral series in near future. He says that looking at the current scenario of relation between the two nations, it seems almost impossible to have a bilateral series in the year 2017.

Sethi told reporters,"I don't think it will happen because of the current scenario which will take time to change. But I also don't think India will avoid playing us in the Champions Trophy next year in England," on Sunday.

On asking about the likely move by Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination to boycott all sporting ties with India in India, Sethi said if the government issued directives to this effect the PCB will follow them.

Ruling out any possibility of cricket on Indian soil Sethi said that whenever Indo-Pak Cricket ties resume Pakistan will never go to play to on Indian soil again.

Sethi further added,”They will have to play against us at a venue of our choice as we will be hosting any such series.”

When asked about the threat of India to boycott Pakistan in major ICC events, Sethi said he did not see this happening since a large chunk of the revenues generated from an ICC event is from Pakistan and India matches.

"Look if there is no India and Pakistan match in an ICC event, then financially it will hurt everyone including the ICC and I don't see that happening since both countries get shares from the world body," he concluded.

India-Pakistan matches were always the most awaited game in any sports since India is a cricket crazed nation it becomes the matter of national pride for not only India but to both nations. So it will be interesting to see that when this tussle between the boards is resolved.
