MUST WATCH: When Sunil Gavaskar set the screen on fire

New Delhi: For many of us Sunil Gavaskar is one of the greatest batsmen, but Sunny has managed to shine in limelight, not just in cricket fields but also in movies.

His many acts, including song and dance sequences, while anchoring for Indian Premier League shows provide us enough hint how capable he is in front of the camera.

But it still remains a big secret that he once starred in a Marathi film, Saavli Premachi. And a song was even picturised on him.

Given his onscreen performance, the former India captain could have easily lived an actor's life.

Here's that rare footage:

For the record, Gavaskar is the first player to score ten thousand runs in Test cricket, and also the first player to score more than thirty centuries.

These are many of his records, and some still exist.

He still holds the record for the most runs scored in a debut Test series. His record against West Indies, then the greatest side in the world, is still unrivaled.

He is still the player with most Test centuries against the West Indies and is the only player to have scored a century and a double century in the same Test Match twice.

For the record, he has scored 10122 runs in 124 innings with the help of 34 hundreds and 45 fifties. And in One-Day Internationals, he has scored 3092 runs in 102 innings with one hundred and 27 fifties.

On the occasion of India's 500th Test match, he along with former India captains were honoured at Kanpur.
