IPL Auction 2018, Day 1: Ben Stokes, Manish Pandey, KL Rahul top buys among 78 players sold

While controversial England allrounder Stokes remains the costliest so far at Rs 12.5 crore, Indian batsmen Pandey and Rahul took home Rs 11 crore each.

Navdeep Saini, Delhi's Ranji star, now comes up for Rs 20 lakh. Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils fight it out for him before Royal Challengers Bangalore stun both to clinch him for Rs 3 crore.  

Syed Khaleel Ahmed with a base price of 20 lakh. He impressed one and all at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, and courtesy of that he fetches Rs 3 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

Aniket Choudhary comes up for Rs 30 lakh. Last year he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore but had a mediocre season. They still keep him, for Rs 30 lakh. 

Rajneesh Gurbani goes unsold.

Basil Thampi with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. He had an impressive IPL last year for Gujarat Lions. Sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 95 lakh. 

T Natarajan sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 40 lakh.

Siddharth Kaul, winner with Sunrisers Hyderabad last year, comes up for Rs 30 lakh. He stays with them as SRH spend Rs 3.8 crore to have him back. 

Uncapped fast bowlers now.  Kulwant Khejrolia is bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 85 lakh.

Australian T20 sensation D'Arcy Short is here. Fierce batsman and can bowl too. His base price is Rs 20 lakh. Expect him to get a good deal. As it turns out he gets one and is sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 4 crore. 

Nitesh Rana comes up for Rs 20 lakh. Sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 3.4 crore.

Siddhesh Lad goes unsold. 

With a base price of Rs 20 lakh, Manan Vohra sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 1.1 crore. Kings XI Punjab don't exercise their RTM.

Rahul Tripathi with a base price of Rs 20 lakh. Fierce bidding starts for him. He deserves every bit of it, one has to say. He is finally sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 3.4 crore. That's huge gain.

Uncapped batsmen's turn now. Suryakumar Yadav first with a base price of Rs 30 lakh. And gets Rs 3.2 from Mumbai Indians.

Mitchell McClenaghan goes unsold. 

Mohammed Shami, who showed his batting credentials with a quick 27 against South Africa on Friday, comes up with a base price of Rs 1 crore and gets sold for Rs 3 crore to Rajasthan Royals. However, Delhi use their RTM to seal his services. 

Another Indian in the fray, Ishant Sharma with a base price of Rs 75 lakh. He goes unsold too. 

First New Zealand fast bowler today with a base price of Rs 1 crore. Surprisingly, he goes unsold. 

First Indian fast bowler. Umesh Yadav with a base price of Rs 1 crore. Sold for Rs 4.2 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Another Aussie quickie, the in-form Patrick Cummins with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Somebody will definitely pick him as he has been in great form of late. Only the other day he picked up four important wickets in Australia's win. As expected, he is being wooed. Goes finally to Mumbai Indians for Rs 5.4 crore. 

Josh Hazlewood follows suit and goes unsold. 

Mitchell Johnson comes with a base price of Rs 2 crore and he goes unsold. Nobody seemed interested in the now-retired Australia bowler.  

Now fast bowlers are up for grabs. And Bangladeshi Mustafizur Rahaman comes up first with a base price of Rs 1 crore. Sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2.2 crore after Hyderabad decide to ignore him.

Englishman Sam Billings with a base price of Rs 1 crore. He has gained in reputation in the last couple of years, however, he goes unsold.  

Ambati Rayudu with a base price of Rs 50 lakh. Eventually gets Rs 2.2 crore from Chennai Super Kings.

Sanju Samson, one of the promising wicketkeeper batsmen in the country, has many parties wooing him. His base price is Rs 1 crore and he is on the upward curve. He is finally sold for Rs 8 crore to Rajasthan Royals. Delhi say no to using their RTM.  

Robin Uthappa now with a base price of Rs 2 crore and goes to Mumbai Indians for Rs 6.4 crore. But there is a twist. Kolkata Knight Riders use their RTM to bring Uthappa back. It was pretty much on the cards.

Dinesh Karthik, presently in South Africa as back-up, comes up now. Starts with a base price of Rs 2 crore and eventually goes on to get an impressive Rs 7.4 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders. Continues to stay popular among the owners.   

Englishman Jonny Bairstow goes unsold. 

Wriddhiman Saha with a base price of Rs 1 crore. Currently out of the Test team due to injury he picked up in the first Test in South Africa. But he is generating good interest and finally goes to Hyderabad for Rs 5 crore.

South African Quinton de Kock's turn now. Base price Rs 2 crore. Sold for Rs 2.80 crore to Royal Challengers Banglore. Delhi refuse to take him back.  

Proceedings resume at Bengaluru. First specialist wicket-keeper comes up today and it's Parthiv Patel with a base price of Rs 1 crore. HE GOES UNSOLD. Hope this doesn't affect his performance in the Jo'Burg Test.

New Zealander Colin de Grandhomme with a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 2.2 crore. 

Kedar Jadhav comes up with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Chennai pick him for Rs 7.80 crore., RCB say no to using their RTM. Second successive purchase for CSK. 

Watson's huge IPL experience seems to have done the job for him. As far as his last season was concerned he was pretty ordinary for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

David Miller now. Base price Rs 1.50 crore. Mumbai Indians get him for Rs 3 crore but Kings XI Punjab use their right to match to retain him. 

Murali Vijay (Rs 2 crore) goes unsold. Third player to suffer this fate today after Chris Gayle and Joe Root.
