At the end of day's play, Kohli was unbeaten on 76 (114 balls) as India took a mammoth 598-run second innings lead. Kohli and Abhinav Mukund 81(116), who got out off the last ball of day, put up a 133-run third wicket partnership to all but end Lanka's chance of coming back into the match.

In the last 10 overs, India have added 36 runs, losing the wicket of Abhinav Mukund. Danushka Gunathilaka trapped a reluctant Mukund in front with a loopy delivery. India called for a review, but it was touch and go for the TV umpire.

That happened off the third ball of the 47th over. And with that, Day 4's play came to an end.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli batted beautifully and was unbeaten on 76 (114 balls) as India are two runs shy of taking a mammoth 500-run lead.

India added another 43 runs in the last ten overs to extend the lead to 472 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli and Abhinav Mukund added more than 100 runs for the third wicket stand as India take complete control in Galle.

India are in complete control of the game. They are smashing all over the field, so much so that even skipper Rangana Herath failed to stop them with his spin bowling. Above all Abhinav Mukund notched up a fifty there at Galle. It is his first since stepping back into the Test format.

The duo at the pitch is bolstering India's lead. Their second innings score has gone past 100-run mark and both seem quite confident at the crease. Adding to it, they also brought up their 50-run stand.

Rain stopped, the inspection was done and skipper Kohli walked in along with opener Mukund. This is now India's highest lead after which they didn't enforce the follow-on.

Cheteshwar Pujara, the second batsman to depart in the second innings. Lahiru Kumara angled the delivery into his pads causing him to flick it slightly to the leg side. Kushal Mendis present at leg gully plucked a phenomenal catch and down came the rain.

India continued with their innings on a stronger note despite losing the early wicket of Shikhar Dhawan. Mukund looks a bit confident and he has to. One last chance to play well as his position seems to in jeopardy with the return of KL Rahul.

A 309 runs lead and India will be adding more to it. Opener Dhawan and Mukund walked in to start off with their proceedings. A couple of boundaries and Dhawan fell victim to Dilruwan Perera. Outside off, way slower due to the pitch as Dhawan (14) looking for a cut found himself at backward point. Dhawan has a cheeky smile on his face and so does Perera.

Cheteshwar Pujara walked in next.

Ravindra Jadeja bagged his third wicket as Sri Lanka wrap up things with only 291 runs on the board. With Gunaratne injured the hosts are ergo all out. Despite a lead of 309, India will not be going for a follow-on. Opners Dhawan and Mukund sprinted to the dressing room to get all padded up.

LUNCH REPORT: 154 at the loss of five wickets was where the Lankans had started. The duo at the pitch, Angelo Mathews and Dilruwan Perera looked strong, trying to build on momentum until Jadeja send back the former skipper packing. Herath too followed him falling victim to Jadeja's spell. Debutant Pandya was finally brought in moments before the first session could end and he too scalped a wicket, his first in Test.

Perera is still at the crease, but none holding onto the wicket on the other end ergo Sri Lankan seem to be on the edge of a follow-on.

Debutant Hardik Pandya was introduced into the attack and he bagged his maiden there at Galle to dismiss Nuwan Pradeep. Length delivery, Pradeep failed to strike it as the ball rattled against the off stump. Lahiru Kumara walked in next.

Jadeja returned to dismiss skipper Rangana Herath. Looking for a reverse sweep, the ball skidded off his forearm and fielder took it behind. Umpire raised his finger and unhappy with the decision, Herath went for a DRS. Wasted as the ultra-edge revealed that the ball had brushed his gloves. India all aggressive now, three slips in position. In the meantime, Dilruwan notched up his fifty. Nuwan Pradeep was the new man in.

Slowly silently the two bring up 200 for the hosts, a much-needed boost for the faltering Sri Lankan innings. Not only so the two also have a fifty-run stand now. But alas! Mathews departed to a Jadeja spin. Fifth delivery of the 59th over. Jammed it in as Mathews made space to ramp it over covers, but unfortunately found Virat Kohli and that was the end of another Sri Lankan hope. Skipper Rangana Herath walked in next.
