India win! This has been a tremendous comeback from a stage when South Africa were cruising at 124/1, but Mohammed Shami's 5/28 led a spirited Indian pace attack to come back and dismisses the hosts for 177 to clinch a 63-run victory and stay unbeaten at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. However, South Africa win the three-match series 2-1.

Result: India (187 & 247) beat South Africa (194 & 177) by 63 runs

27 January 2018, 20:22 PM

Shami sets up Morkel for a bouncer but delivers a yorker instead to send him back for a first-ball duck. From 124/1, South Africa are now 161/9 and just a wicket away from conceding defeat.

27 January 2018, 20:17 PM

Bhuvneshwar gets into the act and sends Rabada (1) back caught in the slips by Pujara. This will be over soon now as only an Indian win looks the likely result from here. SA 160/8, still 81 runs away from the target of 241.

27 January 2018, 20:11 PM

Bowled! Shami goes through Phehlukwayo's (0) defences to get his second wicket of the over. South Africa pushed to the brink of defeat now at 157/7, chasing 241 to win.

27 January 2018, 19:58 PM

Bowled! Mohammed Shami strikes to remove 'Big Vern' Philander, who chops a pull-shot onto his off-stump. Shami (10) does the job for Kohli and India. South Africa 157/6, chasing 241 to win.

27 January 2018, 19:46 PM

That's a straightforward one. Jasprit Bumrah traps Quinton de Kock in front of the wickets for a first-ball duck. The Proteas (145/5) lose half their side, still needing 96 to win the contest. Great comeback from the Indian bowlers, and Ishant Sharma and Bumrah are at the centre of this revival.

27 January 2018, 19:34 PM

Here comes another wicket for India and Ishant Sharma, who earlier in the day went unsold at the IPL auction, does the job with a peach of a delivery that cleans up South Africa captain Faf du Plessis for 2. South Africa 144/4, need 97 more to win.

27 January 2018, 18:56 PM

It's tea on Day 4 at Johannesburg. South Africa 136/3 with Elgar (61) and captain Faf du Plessis (0) at the crease. The Proteas need 105 more to win this game. India are back into the contest with quick wickets of Hashim Amla and the dangerous AB de Villiers but South Africa will still back themselves to get the remaining runs.

27 January 2018, 18:50 PM

Here goes another wicket and it's the dangerous AB de Villiers who is removed by Jasprit Bumrah. The ball bounces a little extra and takes the edge off de Villiers' bat and Ajinkya Rahane does the rest at gulley. Villiers goes for 6. South Africa 131/3, need 110 more to win.

27 January 2018, 18:33 PM

At last comes the much-needed breakthrough. Ishant Sharma removes Hashim Amla for 52 courtesy of a brilliant catch from Hardik Pandya who dives to his right at short midwicket to pouch the ball. AB de Villiers joins Elgar and takes a couple off his second ball of the innings. South Africa 126/2, need 115 more to win.

27 January 2018, 18:24 PM

Things continue to go downhill for the Indian team. Both Dean Elgar (55) and Hashim Amla (52) have scored fifties, and South Africa are 124/1 in 52 overs, need 117 more to whitewash India 3-0. They are definitely in the driver's seat. India will need a major miracle from here to pull one back in this series.

27 January 2018, 17:33 PM

India's search for wickets continues post lunch as South Africa further strengthen their position by crossing 100 for the loss of just one wicket. Both Hashim Amla and Dean Elgar are close to completing their fifties. They now need just 141 more to win the match.

27 January 2018, 16:28 PM

The first session on the fourth day ends with South Africa (69/1) needing 172 runs more to win this game. This is the first session in this game that has gone wicketless. Dean Elgar (27) and Hashim Amla (25) have batted impeccably and their partnership has now gone up to 64 runs. In all honesty, they have the upper hand. India now will have to bowl out of their skin to get the result they want so bad. The tables have indeed turned in this last match of the series.

27 January 2018, 15:06 PM

South Africa start well on Day 4 and are presently 42/1 in 17 overs. Amla 12, Elgar 17 are at the crease. They need 199 more to win this game. The Indian camp looks a little frustrated. The bowlers need to strike quickly.

Update from Jo'burg: 1st session to run from 11am to 12:30 pm local time. Second session 1:10 pm to 3:25 pm and third session 3:45 pm to 6 pm. If weather permits, play can be extended for another half an hour.

27 January 2018, 13:42 PM

The start to Day 4 is delayed due to some outfield issues. Sawdust is being spread in some parts to soak up the water accumulated there owing to rain. We will be back as and when the proceedings get underway.

27 January 2018, 13:04 PM

Dean Elgar (11) and Hashim Amla (2) will start the proceedings for the Proteas. The ball is just 8.3 overs old and the Indian bowlers will take a lot of heart from that. All through three days, the new ball has done the maximum damage.
