Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings, Indian Premier League 2020 Match 41: As it happened

After Mumbai Indians showcased impressive peformance with the ball,openers Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock shone with the bat to help defending champions Mumbai Indians thrash Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 10 wickets in Match 41 of the ongoing 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

 

 

 

 

Asked to bat first, the Chennai franchise failed to counter Mumbai Indians' bowling attack and lost their opening six wickes inside just 30 runs.

Sam Curran, who came to bat at the seventh spot, then staged a late fight back for Chennai by notching up 47-ball 52 runs besides stitching a crucial 43-run stand with Imran Tahir (unveaten at 13) to help CSK post 114 for nine in their stipulated 20 overs. 

Trent Boult proved to be tormentor-in-chief for Mumbai Indians with his figures of four for 18, while Jasprit Bumraj and Rahul Chahar bagged two wickets each. Nathan Coulter-Nile also chipped in with a wicket for Mumbai Indians.

Chasing the target, Ishan Kishan (37-ball 68 runs)  smashed a half-century besides sharing a mammoth partnership of 116 runs for the opening wicket with Quinton de Kock (37-ball 46 runs) to help Mumbai chase down the target inside just 12.2 overs.

Quinton de Kock (28) casually drilled the first ball of the seventh over by Shardul Thakur over mid-off for four runs before he caressed the fourth delivery onto the roof for a maximum. Ishan Kishan (44), who is approaching a fifty, smashed the second delivery of the next over by Imran Tahir over long-on to add six more runs. MI 74/0 (8 overs)
