Australian opener D'Arcy Short expressed his satisfaction after a quick-fire 74 for the Cricket Australia XI against visitors India during the sole tour match ahead of the first Test next week.

Short shared an opening partnership of 114 runs with Max Bryant, putting some early pressure on the Indian bowling attack.

"It was good to get some runs. It was so much fun batting with Max," said Short.

"Just the care-free attitude he has, it probably rubbed off on me a little bit. We just went about our business and had fun – and kept stirring each other a bit."

"There was no talk of reining it in," he added.

The 28-year-old was handed regular opportunities in the T20I series against India but failed to make his presence felt, barring a 33 in the final clash.

"I definitely didn't feel out of form. I was hitting them quite well in the nets and working quite hard on my game in the nets," said Short.

"It just wasn't really working in the game. I sort of went OK in the last game, it was definitely a step in the right direction.

"I just have to keep working on what I'm working at. The next thing is to score runs in BBL and hopefully go from there," he added.

The Big Bash League is all set to commence from 19 December, 2018.
