New Delhi: In an interesting promotional gimmicks, former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) tag-team champions ‘The New Day’ appeared in an episode of the Indian Premier League (IPL) show Extraaa Innings T20 on Wednesday ahead of the Gujarat Lions-Delhi Daredevils match in Kanpur.

Call it IPL's crossover episode with WWE, the show cricket legends Ravi Shastri and Matthew Hayden, along with Extraaa Innings hosts Samir Kochhar, and 'The New Day’ duo of Big E and Kofi Kingston.

During the show, Shastri, who spent some time as the Director of the Indian cricket team, coached Kingston the art of batting even as former Aussie opener Hayden sent down couple of deliveries to the wrestler.

Many assumed that Kingston, who had a Jamaica billing early in his WWE career, assumed that the Ghanaian-American knew about cricket. But it wasn't so.

Here's the video:

But his partner Big E has certainly heard about cricket.

“We are really excited to be part of such a huge phenomenon like the IPL. Cricket is a very big deal in this country and we are very happy to be part of that fanfare.

“My father is from Jamaica, and as a young man he played a lot of cricket. I have heard a lot of stories about the game and it will be great to experience the sport in India,” he told HT earlier.

He even talked about table toppers' Mumbai Indians' performance this season.

“I know IPL is a huge tournament and that Mumbai Indians are performing really well right now. So, I have my bases covered,” Big E said when asked about his cricket knowledge," he said.

Well, IPL and WWE are probably two of the biggest sporting leagues/ brands in the world.
