New Delhi: The Indian Premier League has been one of the most celebrated sporting events and is often glamourised with celebrity opening ceremonies and promotions. The IPL 2017, however, witnessed a bizarre incident unfold during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Supergaint on May 3 when, during the start of the match, a girl offered umpires apples instead of cricket ball.
The Eden Gardens fans were bamboozled seeing a rather unexpected scenario take place in front of them. As the umpires walked in to start the match, they were in for a surprise when a beautiful girl greeted them and offered apples instead of giving them the ball. The umpires, however, waited until the ball was offered, took it and then marched forward to start the match.
This new antic has definitely proved it to be nothing but an exhibition, and some fans were left stunned with IPL organisers' decision to pull off such a dramatised show.
