New Delhi: Dangerous Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Chris Gayle was forced to take the matter into his own hands during the final IPL league match of the season against Delhi Daredevils on Sunday.

Gayle, 37, missed a cut shot against a Amit Mishra delivery in the eighth over of the RCB innings. But the Delhi bowler persisted with his appeal to the umpire, even as wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant seemed to have given up the hope of Gayle's wicket.

It prompted the West Indian to approached Mishra, and offered a friendly wrap around the bowler. Mishra, taken aback by the unexpected turn of event, tried to avoid the contact.

It was an inconsequential game with both the teams already out of the play-offs race. But Gayle entertained the Delhi crowd with some clean hittings. He scored 48 off 38 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes.

RCB posted 161/6 in their 20 overs' play.
