New Delhi: On a night which promised plenty of cricketing action, cricket fans were not left disappointed as Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions entertained them with breathtaking action on the field.

Much to the dismay of the Gujarat fans, Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle kicked off the match in style by adding a century stand for opening wicket. The duo smashed plenty of boundaries which didn't give the local fans much to cheer about.

But Gujarat Lions opener Brendon McCullum set the match on fire with a sensational fielding effort. After Gayle hit a full-toss from Ravindra Jadeja towards long-off off the last ball of the eighth over, McCullum ran towards his left and took an excellent catch diving towards his left.

While the team was delighted after getting the first breakthrough, the umpires asked Gayle to wait to check whether the catch was taken cleanly. The replays suggested that as Baz rolled over near the boundary after taking the catch, some part of his hat touched the ropes.

Gayle resumed his innings but what was delightful to see, was Kohli's gesture as he went all the way to long-off to shake hands with McCullum for his wonderful fielding effort.

Watch the incident here:

Gayle was batting on 38 when he was given a lifeline and the West Indian went on to add 39 more runs in no time. In the process, he also became the first batsman ever to score 10, 000 runs in T20 cricket.

It was not only in the fielding that McCullum impressed everybody as he hit 72 runs off 44 balls during Gujarat's chase. Despite his valiant effort, the hosts fell short of the total by 21 runs.
