On Saturday, the Indian board (BCCI) provided a statement on the fitness status of Indian players.

Ravichandran Ashwin (Rising Pune Supergiant): The ace spinner will not be available for the entire IPL due to recurrence of sports hernia. He has been advised 6-8 weeks of rehabilitation to recuperate from his groin pain.

Murali Vijay (Kings XI Punjab): The opener is likely to have a surgery to his right wrist and also undergo rehabilitation for his left shoulder. He is effectively out of IPL 2017.

Lokesh Rahul (RCB): He is also virtually ruled out due to an imminent shoulder surgery.

Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Umesh Yadav and Gujarat Lions' Ravindra Jadeja have been given some time to freshen up, and will not be available for their respective franchises in the first couple of matches.
