IPL 2017: Kolkata Knight Riders' Chris Lynn posts heartbreaking message after shoulder injury

New Delhi: While Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) suffered a heartbreaking loss against Mumbai Indians (MI) in their second match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, apart from the loss, what would have hurt them even more was seeing Chris Lynn – the big-hitting Aussie who set the tournament on fire with a blinder in Kolkata's first match – getting injured.

While fielding at long-off, Lynn hurt his left shoulder in the fourth over of the innings as he tried to take a catch running backwards from mid off. He looked in extreme pain the moment his body touched the ground and was immediately taken off the field. The Queensland batsman was later seen wearing an ice pack for the rest of the match in the dressing room.

After KKR's four-wicket loss, Lynn tweeted "Dear Cricket Gods, did I do something wrong?"

Not to forget, Lynn has now injured his left shoulder thrice in less than two years.

In their opening match against Gujarat Lions, KKR hit the field with a new strategy as Lynn replaced Robin Uthappa – Gautam Gambhir's regular partner, as the opening batsman. The move which shocked many but paid rich dividends as Lynn hammered unbeaten 93 runs off just 41 balls. Lynn and Gambhir (76*) made a mockery of Lions' 183-run target and chased it down successfully with 31 balls remaining.

Even in the second match, Lynn got off to a quick start, scoring 32 runs off 24 balls before being trapped in front of the wicket by Jasprit Bumrah.

KKR are already struggling with the absence of West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell and Lynn's injury has come as another huge setback for them.

It remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old will be rested for few matches or fly back home for the rest of the tournament.
