IPL 2017: David Warner was involved in a weird incident during Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match

Mumbai: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered their first loss of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 after they were beaten by four wickets by Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium on Wednesday night. The defending champions, who comprehensively won their first two matches, failed to put a good show at Mumbai's home ground.

After being invited to bat first, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan got their team off to a decent start by adding 61 runs in the first ten overs. The Australian left-hander was looking all set to hit another big knock, before his innings was cut short at 49 by a brilliant catch from Parthiv Patel off Harbhajan Singh's bowling.

But what many didn't notice, was a bizarre incident which happened during the match.

In the sixth over of the innings, after being offered some width off the last ball from Jasprit Bumrah, Warner played a cut shot between point and short third man for a boundary.

But instead of Dhawan taking the strike off the first ball of the next over, it was Warner who faced the first ball. While the incident suprised many fans, it went unnoticed by the field umpires.

Earlier, choosing to field on winning the toss, Mumbai restricted SRH to 158/8 in 20 overs and then achieved the target in 18.4 overs losing six wickets along the way.

Nitish Rana played a crucial role for Mumbai with a 36-ball 45 which included three boundaries and two sixes.

He produced a 48-run partnership along with Krunal Pandya which came off 21 balls.

Pandya scored 37 runs off 20 deliveries which included three boundaries and an equal number of sixes.

Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most successful among the SRH bowlers with figures of 3/21 Ashish Nehra, Deepak Hooda and Rashid Khan got a wicket each.

SRH are currently ranked second in the points table and will now take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match on April 15.
