New Delhi: The Indian Premier League 2017 season was hit with another injury setback after Gujarat Lions star Andrew Tye was stretchered off with a shoulder injured, incurred during fielding against Mumbai Indians in Rajkot on Saturday.

Trying to save a boundary off the bowling of Lions skipper Suresh Raina, the Australian appeared to be in serious pain after falling on his shoulder diving for a ball in the field.. The manner in which he injured himself was very similar to that of fellow Aussie Chris Lynn’s and it appears that Tye might have dislocated his shoulder.

The 30-year-old was attended to by the Gujarat physio and the Lions' coach Brad Hodge, before being stretchered off.

After the conclusion of the epic match which was settled in following a super over, Gujarat captain Suresh Raina later said that he doesn't have any update on Tye’s health, while also admitting that losing the quickie who could well have bowled in the eliminator, had three overs to bowl in normal duration and might have helped GL shift match in their favour.

Tye had struck a hat-trick finished with 5-17 from his four overs in a match-winning spell against Rising Pune Supergiant, and currently sits third on the IPL leading wicket-takers list with 12 scalps from six matches that he has played.
