New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will be flying back home owing to a shoulder injury, thus bringing an end to his rather unpleasant tour of India.
Marsh scored just 48 runs and bowled merely five overs in the two Test matches against India and now with his absence, the visitors will be looking for a new No. 6. The name although, will be out in a few days.
"He was fine when he reached India, but it seems that his condition has detoriated," said coach Darren Lehmann, in a interview to cricket.com.au. "In fact he really played well in the second innings in Pune where he scored 31. And now that he is injured we are bound to look for a replacement."
Potential replacements now include Usman Khawaja (batsman), Glenn Maxwell, Moises Henriques and Marcus Stoinis(all-rounders).
Lehmann feels that the selectors will now consider going for a specialist batsmen or a spin bowling all-rounder in the next Test match, thus making the possible entry of Khawaja or Maxwell for the third Test.
After winning the first Test by 333 runs, Steve Smith's men suffered a 75-run loss in the second Test played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Aussies will next go against India for the third Test match of the series in Ranchi on March 16.
