After Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen shone with the bat, Kagiso Rabada bagged a three-wicket haul to help South Africa end their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign with a win by 10 runs against Australia at Old Trafford on Saturday. 

Team South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bat. The Proteas posted a total of 325 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs, on the back of a 94-ball 100 by Faf du Plessis and 97-ball 95 by Rassie van der Dussen. 

Pacer Mitchell Starc and spinner Nathan Lyon were the highest wicket-takers accounting for two wickets apiece. 

In reply, Australia were bowled out for 315 runs in 49.5 overs with David Warner (122) the highest run-scorer. Alex Carey (85) was the second highest run-scorer, with Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada the pick of the bowlers finishing with three wickets. 

The defeat resulted in Australia securing the second spot in the 2019 World Cup points table. Virat Kohli led India, on the other hand, finished on top of the table.    

England and New Zealand finished on the third and fourth spot respectively after accumulating 12 and 11 points respectively.
