New Delhi: Famous hill station Dharamsala witnessed the birth of Test star as debutant Kuldeep Yadav helped himself to four wickets before Tea on Day 1 of fourth Test against Australia Saturday.

The 22-year-old spinner was a surprised inclusion for India. He came in for injured skipper Virat Kohli, and soon justified his selection by taking the wickets of David Warner, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins.

After taking his maiden Test wicket, in the form of Warner, the chinaman bowler broke down.

For the record, he is India's first left arm chinaman bowler to play Test cricket, and only the second from the subcontinent after Lakshan Rangika of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Indian legends Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri tried to decode the mystery behind the art of chinaman bowling, which a rarity in cricket, vis-s-vis Kuldeep.

Earlier in the day, Aussie skipper Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat. India made couple of changes, Kuldeep on for Kohli, and Bhuvenshwar Kumar on for Ishant Sharma.

India need to win the match to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. A draw in the match is good enough for the Aussies to keep the trophy.

The series is now tied 1-1 after thress matches.
