Diana Edulji opts out of discussion on women's cricket during COA meet

New Delhi: Diana Edulji, part of the BCCI Committee of Administrators (COA), today recused herself when matters relating to women's cricket were discussed on day two of the meeting here.

After doubling the central contract retainership fees for the men's team yesterday, the COA was expected increase monetary allotment for women's as well as junior cricketers.

The former women players have for long been demanding increase in monthly pension as well a one time benefit scheme on the lines of their male counterparts.

Former India captain Shantha Rangaswamy too had recently written to the COA on the issues facing women's cricket and had got a positive response from the Vinod Rai-led committee.

In today's meeting, financial matters pertaining to the upcoming IPL were discussed. The COA is also due to meet all the IPL staging state associations on March 30.

Their next official meeting will take place on April 5, when the 10th edition of the IPL begins.
