Raipur: In a major incident, eleven CRPF personnel were killed in a Naxal attack in Sukma district of Chhattishgarh on Saturday.

The attack took place when Maoists opened indiscriminate fire on a road opening party (ROP) between Bhejji and Kuttacheru at around 9 am. 

Reports said that the Naxals looted weapons from the slain security personnel.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences to the families of CRPF personnel killed in the attack.

He also spoke to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the situation in Sukma.

Singh is expected to go to Sukma to take stock of the situation.

On the other hand, Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh said, "Deeply hurt by the loss of our CRPF jawans in Sukma. Will be forever grateful for their selfless contribution. Heartfelt condolence."
