New Delhi: Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here and appreciated his "pro-poor initiatives", the PMO said.
She made a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, the PMO said in a statement.
"Gates appreciated the Prime Minister's pro-poor initiatives, especially with regard to Swachh Bharat and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana," it added.
The Foundation has been in India for about a decade, focussing on healthcare.
Its work includes maternal and child health, health and nutrition services, vaccines and routine immunization, family planning, agricultural development, sanitation and the control of infectious diseases.
