iPhone app checks number of men and women

The SceneTap application allows the users to click the right balance between the two genders, enabling them to choose the destination which best suits them.

London: Finding the guy-to-girl ratio in a bar is now possible with the latest iPhone application developed by a software company that keeps a count of how many men and women are present there.

The SceneTap application allows the users to click the right balance between the two genders, enabling them to choose the destination which best suits them.

Consequently, men who want to meet a girl will be able to avoid watering holes stuffed with guys watching football and similarly, women too will be able to ensure they go somewhere where there are more men.

The start-up has installed facial recognition software at the entrances to bars and clubs and keeps a real-time count on the number of men and women there.

Claims regarding SceneTap are that the cameras will identify individuals and will only check if they are a man or a woman.

The application’s website claims it will allow you to ‘tap into the scene in real time’.

“How many people are at the bar right now? What’s the guy-to-girl ratio next door? Where are people my age going out tonight? Which bars are nearby? What’s the scene like down the street? SceneTap has the answer,” the Daily Mail quoted it as saying.

The firm’s chief executive Cole Harper told Forbes that the facial recognition cameras will not be linked to Facebook or be able to determine a person’s identify.

He revealed that he came up with the idea while ‘bar-hopping, spending a lot of money on cabs, getting somewhere and not having it be a good time’.
