Facebook CEO Zuckerberg in India; to meet PM Modi tomorrow

The billionaire CEO will be addressing the first Internet.org summit which will take place on October 9 and 10 in New Delhi.

New Delhi: Social networking site Facebook's CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

The billionaire CEO will be addressing the first Internet.org summit which will take place on October 9 and 10 in New Delhi. It is also expected that Zuckerberg will meet key ministeries as well.

'Internet.Org' aims to make Internet access affordable for people across the globe.

Zuckerberg will meet Modi to talk about how Facebook and the Indian government can collaborate on Internet.org. Interestingly, Modi is a keen supporter of social media as a means to reach out people.

The Internet.org summit will bring together experts, officials and industry leaders to focus on ways to deliver more Internet services for people in languages other than English.

India has about 200 million Internet users as compared to the 1.2 billion population and only half of them have Facebook accounts. Internet usage in India is not very high.
