Apple eyeing September launch for online TV service

Sources said that the service would have about two dozen channels including three of the Big 4 networks, reported Deadline.com.

Washington: Apple is reportedly in talks with content providers about launching its much-discussed online TV service in the fall.

Sources said that the service would have about two dozen channels including three of the Big 4 networks, reported Deadline.com.

However, NBC is not involved in talks because of lingering bad blood between Apple and NBCU parent Comcast tied to their failed teaming on a streaming service last year.

Apple is planning to make an announcement in June and launch the online TV service in September, the report said.

The plan is to offer a smaller bundle of channels including the broadcast network and such popular cable outlets as ESPN and FX, while leaving out many of the smaller networks on basic cable.
