10 most followed indians on Twitter by politics and news

Prime Minister Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) topped the chart of most followed Indians on Twitter in 2014 with 8,501,699 followers.

New Delhi: The year 2014 was the year of Indian politics with Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi leading the way all along.

Several political leaders cutting across party lines have also begun using Twitter extensively. Here’s the top 10 list of the most followed:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) topped the chart of most followed Indians on Twitter in 2014. The Indian PM is being followed by 8,501,699 people on the micro blogging site.

PMO India (@pmoindia) ranks second with a huge gap in the margin. The PMO's twitter page is followed by 3,872,917 people.

Former Indian Police Service officer Kiran Bedi (@thekiranbedi) ranked third in the list and has 3,329,625 followers.

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal (@arvindkejriwal) is at number four with 2,956,580 followers while Congress MP Shashi Tharoor (@shashitharoor) is at number five with 2,579,363 followers.

Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj (@sushmaswaraj) is at number six with 1,921,550 followers while Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley (@arunjaitley) is at number seven with 1,268,749 followers.

HRD minister Smriti Z Irani (@smritiirani) is at number eight with 1,075,543 followers while senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy (@swamy39) is at number nine with 998,316 follower and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh (@bjprajnathsingh) is at number ten with 927,263 followers.
