New Delhi: Travel tools, applications and social media are finding increasing relevance among travellers, according to report by Thomas Cook.
"These changes in technology and the evolving environment shape the customer decision process and overall customer experience," Thomas Cook (India) Managing Director Madhavan Menon said in a statement.
The study done in collaboration with the Taj Group seeks to understand the considerable impact of social media on traveller inspiration, search, buying and reflection in the overall travel process.
According to the survey, customers are now willing to share more information in the public domain and express their feelings and sentiments related to travel planning and execution.
"Over 52 percent of the respondents confirmed the use of mobile for searching travel-related products," it said.
Telepresence adoption will see rapid growth, considering modern day constraints on infrastructure and bottlenecks created by distances and travel times.
"The fast changing, evolving technology will also offer a huge savings to corporates and result in productivity enhancement from the workforce," it said.
Thomas Cook surveyed travellers at major airports across the country and queried leading airlines and GDS within the country for their views on the subject.
The report focuses specifically on the impact of technology on travel and the traveller in the Indian context in parallel to the global environment.
