Hong Kong shares rose 0.28 percent in the morning session Wednesday, tracking an advance in Shanghai as investors bet on further economy-boosting measures by China.

Hong Kong`s benchmark Hang Seng Index added 78.48 points to 27,928.97 by lunch on turnover of HK$102.11 billion ($13.18 billion).

In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index jumped 1.78 percent, or 76.28 points, to 4,369.90.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China`s second exchange, rose 2.12 percent, or 46.04 points, to 2,220.97.
