New Delhi: As much as it is usefull in times of need, toilet is never anyone's favourite place nor a place to be admired, especially if it is a pulic toilet.

Public toilet brings to mind the stinking smell, dirt and what not! However, your views on public toilets could change for a minute, all thanks to Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan.

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan is said to have designed a solid gold, Kohler-inspired toilet which is permanently installed at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.

And the best part? It's not just a piece of art but as a working lavatory in a public bathroom.

Titled 'America', the solid-gold toilet is open for public to use.

However, the name 'America' is reported to have open up many interpretations with The New York Times reportedly describing as a “preposterously scatological apotheosis of wealth”.

“It’s not my job to tell people what a work means,” Cattelan had said previously. “But I think people might see meaning in this piece.”

“There’s the risk that people will think of it as a joke, maybe, but I don’t see it as a joke,” the designer was quoted as saying earlier this year.

Regardless of what people think, the 18-carat gold pulic toilet is the first of its kind in the world. So, how about a good flush after use?
