Mumbai: The rupee fell marginally by 4 paise to 63.59 against the US currency in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on Wednesday due to fresh demand for the dollar from importers.

The dollar strengthened against other major currencies overseas, impacting the rupee sentiments here, dealers said.

Fresh demand for dollar from importers and a lower opening in the domestic equity market also weighed on rupee.

The rupee had bounced back by 11 paise to close at 63.55 against the American currency yesterday on fresh selling of dollars by banks and exporters on good foreign capital inflows into equity markets.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell further by 109.20 points, or 0.38 percent, to 28,072.94 in early trade.
