RIL shares continue to rise for 5th session; surge over 5%

Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd surged over 5 percent Thursday, its fifth straight session of gains, on optimism over the company's plans to start 4G phone services later this year.

Mumbai: Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd surged over 5 percent Thursday, its fifth straight session of gains, on optimism over the company's plans to start 4G phone services later this year.

The blue-chip index ended 5.41 percent higher at Rs 981.45 on the BSE. In intra-day, it soared 5.46 percent to Rs 982.

At the NSE, the stock jumped 5.12 percent to close at Rs 978.95.

RIL was the top gainer among the Sensex and Nifty components.

Surge in the stock was significant in sending the benchmark Sensex higher by 283.17 points at 27,115.83.

In five days, the stock has gained nearly 12 percent.

Reliance Industries (RIL) will start commercial operations of its much-awaited 4G telecom services in December, offering a 4G smartphone for as low as Rs 4,000 and a monthly bill of Rs 300-500.
