Bank credit grows 11% to Rs 63,03,482 crore

Schedule commercial banks' credit grew 11 percent to Rs 63,03,482 crore in the fortnight ended December 12, according to the Reserve Bank data.

Mumbai: Schedule commercial banks' credit grew 11 percent to Rs 63,03,482 crore in the fortnight ended December 12, according to the Reserve Bank data.

The advances had stood at Rs 56,84,690 crore in the corresponding fortnight last year.

Banks' credit had risen 11.29 percent to Rs 62,84,396 crore in the previous fortnight ended November 28.

In the reporting period, deposits grew 10.63 percent to Rs 82,92,975 crore from Rs 74,95,719 crore in the year-ago fortnight.

In the fortnight ended November 28, 2014, deposits had grown 11.70 percent to Rs 83,17,049 crore.

The demand deposits had risen 7.60 percent to Rs 7,39,621 crore in the fortnight ended December 12 as against Rs 6,87,320 crore in the year-ago period.

Time deposits grew 11 percent to Rs 75,53,356 crore in the period from Rs 68,08,399 crore in the same fortnight last year.
