WPI inflation eases to 5.19% in July

The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly Wholesale Price Index (WPI), stood at 5.19 percent for the month of July as compared to 5.43 percent for the previous month.

New Delhi: The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly Wholesale Price Index (WPI), stood at 5.19 percent for the month of July as compared to 5.43 percent for the previous month.

The WPI inflation remained at 5.85% during the corresponding month of the previous year.

Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 2.38 percent compared to a build up rate of 3.17 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

However, retail inflation data measured on consumer price index (CPI) for July, released earlier this week, showed a marginal inch up to 7.96 percent, mainly due to higher prices of food items such as vegetables, fruits and milk.
