Sugar slide on adequate supply, reduced offtake

Sugar prices drifted at the wholesale market in the national capital on Wednesday, dragged down by persistent supplies by mills against subdued demand from bulk consumers.

New Delhi: Sugar prices drifted at the wholesale market in the national capital on Wednesday, dragged down by persistent supplies by mills against subdued demand from bulk consumers.

Marketmen said besides reduced offtake by bulk consumers, ample supplies from mills mainly kept pressure on sugar prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 eased to Rs 2,900-3,100 and Rs 2,890-3,090 against last close of Rs 2,900-3,110 and Rs 2,890-3,100 per quintal respectively.

Similarly, sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded lower at Rs 2,780-2,945 and Rs 2,770-2,930 as compared to previous levels of Rs 2,800-2,960 and Rs 2,790-2,945 per quintal respectively.

In the millgate section, Kinnoni, Dorala, Shimbholi and Bulandshahr ended lower at Rs 2945, Rs 2850, Rs 2,950 and Rs 2825 against last close of Rs 2,960, Rs 2,875, 2,970 and Rs 2,855 per quintal respectively.
