New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday gave liberty to Centre to finalise the auction of Spectrum concluded yesterday.

Names of the winners, however, have not been disclosed due to court orders. The Supreme Court rule comes on multiple cases questioning auction guidelines and criteria.

The apex court has asked Centre to inform all successful bidders that finalisation of auction is subject to the outcome of the matters pending before it.

SC has also directed all successful bidders that they are under obligation to implead themselves in the matter before it and give their stand on affidavit.

Government raised a record Rs 109,874 crore in the country's biggest and the fiercest auction of telecom spectrum that ended Wednesday, triggering fears of hike in call and data rates.

Incumbents Airtel and Vodafone bid aggressively to protect their businesses as new players like Reliance Jio participated in the auction that lasted 19 days and saw 115 rounds of bidding among eight operators. In two of the spectrum bands, prices jumped by over two-fold in some circles.
