Retail inflation up at 5.01% in May against 4.87% in April

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation for May stood at 5.01 percent as against 4.87 percent in April.

New Delhi: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation for May stood at 5.01 percent as against 4.87 percent in April.

The food inflation stood at 4.8 percent versus 5.11 percent, month on month.

Meanwhile, the retail inflation in April softened and fell to a four-month low of 4.87 percent as prices of food items, vegetables and fruits turned cheaper.

The retail inflation measured on the basis of Consumer Price Index (CPI) was revised upwards to 5.25 percent from 5.17 percent in March 2015.
