Petrol, diesel prices cut by Rs 2 per litre each

With the cut in the prices, petrol in Delhi will now cost Rs 61.33, Rs 68.65 in Kolkata, Rs Rs 68.86 in Mumbai and Rs 63.94 in Chennai; all effective from Tuesday.

New Delhi: State-owned oil companies on Monday slashed the prices of perol and diesel Rs 2 each, to be effective from midnight tonight.

With the international brent oil prices falling to a five-year low below $63 dollars a barrel, it was widely expected that oil prices in India would be cut too.

With the cut in the prices, petrol in Delhi will now cost Rs 61.33, down Rs 2 from 63.33 from Tuesday.

In Kolkata it will cost Rs 68.65, down Rs 2.08 from Rs 70.68 while in Mumbai, it will cost RS 68.86, down Rs 2.09 from 70.95.

In Chennai petrol will now cost Rs 63.94 after it was cut by Rs 2.11 from Rs 66.05.

As for the diesel, it will now cost Rs 50.51 in Delhi, Rs 55.00 in Kolkatta, Rs 57.91 in Mumbai and Rs 53.78 in Chennai.

On November 31, prices of perol and diesel had been cut by 91 paise and 84 paise respectively.
