New Delhi: Continuing the deflationary trend for the sixth month in a row, inflation touched a record low of (-)2.65 percent in April on cheaper manufactured goods and food items, fuelling renewed demands for further rate cut by the Reserve Bank.
The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at -2.65% for the month of April as compared to -2.33% for the previous month and 5.55% during the corresponding month of the previous year, government data showed on Thursday.
The index for Food Articles group rose by 1.3 percent while that of the Non-Food Articles group rose by 0.6 percent.
The index for Minerals group declined by 2.2 percent and that of fuel and power declined by 1.7 percent.
Manufactured products group declined by 0.1 percent and the index for Food Products group declined by 0.2 percent.
