Industrial growth stages smart recovery; February IIP hits 9-month high of 5%

New Delhi: India's factory output grew at 9-month high of 5 percent in February as against 2.6 percent in January, government data showed on Friday.

The cumulative growth for the period April-February 2014-15 over the corresponding period of the previous year stood at 2.8 percent.

The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of February 2015 rose by 2.5 percent, 5.2 percent and 5.9 percent respectively as compared the same period last year.

The cumulative growth in the three sectors during April-February 2014-15 over the corresponding period of 2013-14 has been 1.5 percent , 2.2 percent and 9.1 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, the January growth rate has been revised to 2.8 from 2.6 percent.
