Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) where in it challenged the fare hike of the Mumbai metro by Reliance Infrastructure.

The Reliance Infrastructure-led Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd has hiked the fares of the  11.4-km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 40.

Opposing the move, the MMRDA filed a petition in the court saying it wanted the fares to be fixed between Rs 9 to Rs 13.

Responding to the petition filed, the Bombay HC asked the Centre to direct the fare fixation committee to expeditiously fix the tariff and fare of the Mumbai metro.
