Exports up 7.27% in November; trade deficit widens to $16.8 bn

New Delhi: After entering the negative zone in October, exports in November went up by 7.27 percent to USD 25.96 billion.

Meanwhile, trade deficit for the month widened to USD 16.8 billion as gold imports jumped over six-times to USD 5.61 billion.

Exports in October had entered into the negative zone contracting 5.4 percent after a gap of six months while trade deficit widened to USD 13.35 billion.

Gold imports in October surged by nearly four-fold to USD 4.17 billion in October to meet the festival season demand, thereby widening the trade deficit.
