Diesel price hiked by 50 paise a litre; no change in petrol price

Oil companies on Wednesday hiked the price of diesel by 50 paise per litre with effect from midnight tonight but kept the price of petrol unchanged.

New Delhi: Oil companies on Wednesday hiked the price of diesel by 50 paise per litre with effect from midnight tonight but kept the price of petrol unchanged.

On August 31, the price of petrol had been hiked by Rs 2 per litre while that of the diesel had been hike by 50 paise a litre.

However, oil companies had put on halt the hike in prices during mid-September when it was expected to increase the prices.

The new rate of the diesel will come into effect from midnigth tonight.

Post the hike, diesel will now cost Rs 44.95 a litre as compared to the current Rs 44.45 in the national capital while the price of petrol will remain the same at Rs Rs 61.20 per litre.
